Family Visa

About the Visa

A family visa, also known as a dependent visa, is a type of visa that allows family members of individuals who are residing in a foreign country to join them. Here are the key points in simple terms:

  1. Purpose: It is intended for family reunification, allowing spouses, children, and sometimes other relatives to live with their family member who is working or studying in a foreign country.
  2. Duration: The length of stay is typically tied to the visa holder’s status. For instance, if the primary visa holder is on a work visa, the family visa is valid for the same duration.
  3. Eligibility: Usually, immediate family members such as spouses and children are eligible. Some countries may allow parents or extended family members under certain conditions.
  4. Benefits: Holders may be allowed to work, study, or access healthcare services, depending on the country’s regulations.
  5. Examples: If you have a work visa for a foreign country, your spouse and children can apply for a family visa to come live with you.
In summary, a family visa enables family members to join a person living abroad, facilitating family unity while the primary visa holder works or studies.
